SoDMA’s Impact: Positive Change for the Lives of Displaced Families in Baraawe.

Supporting the Most Vulnerable Internally Displaced People: A Successful Food Distribution in Baraawe, Lower Shabelle Region.

Baraawe Human Rights Protection, a human rights and emergency humanitarian organization in the Southwest of Somalia, expresses heartfelt gratitude to the Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) for their successful life-saving food distribution conducted in Baraawe district recently in August 2024.

Thanks to the efforts led by Abdulkadir Sharif Sheikhuna, Senior Adviser to the Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), along with a delegation of high-level SoDMA members, who visited Baraawe district in the Lower Shabelle region for the second time.

Their mission was to distribute food to 750 displaced persons residing in one of the many internally displaced camps in Baraawe district.

During this visit, Abdulkadir Sharif Sheikhuna emphasized the importance of monitoring the conditions faced by the most vulnerable and displaced populations, ensuring their humanitarian needs are met effectively.

His responsible dedication to transparency and accountability has been instrumental in safeguarding the proper humanitarian distribution of food aid in Somalia.

The food packages distributed included essential items like flour, rice, sugar, and oil, providing a life-saving line of much-needed relief to the displaced vulnerable people.

The people of Baraawe expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Chairman of SoDMA, Md. Mohamud Macallin Abdulle, for his unwavering support to displaced individuals across Somalia, particularly in Baraawe district.

Additionally, the intellectuals, diaspora, and elders of Baraawe district extended their thanks to President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud for his continued efforts in aiding his people.

They also acknowledged the significant contributions of Abdulkadir Sharif Sheikhuna in ensuring aid reaches those who need it most.

The Baraawe Diaspora Community has called upon SoDMA to continue its support and distribute more food to the vulnerable populations in Baraawe and its surrounding areas. These individuals, who have endured persecution, robbery, violence, drought, and insecurity, represent some of the most impoverished and vulnerable displaced people in Somalia.

We are grateful for SoDMA’s commitment to reaching the often-forgotten city of Baraawe, which hosts many displaced and vulnerable families from the Lower Shabelle region.

This act of humanitarian love underscores the principles of equality and service that SoDMA stands for.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for making a positive impact on the lives of those in need in Baraawe.
