Urgent Call for Justice: Muna Ibrahim Abiikar’s Unjust Imprisonment
Baraawe Human Rights Protection has concluded a thorough investigation into the alarming case of Muna Ibrahim Abikar, a former member of the Somali Federal Parliament, who has been held in Mogadishu’s central prison for over three years without court-proven evidence. This grave violation of human rights demands immediate international attention.
Despite requests from Muna’s family for a public hearing, the court denied these pleas, proceeding with the case in secret. Muna’s lawyer describes her situation as the “worst unjust case” he has encountered. Her arbitrary detention not only defies the Somali constitution but also reflects a troubling trend of political intimidation.
We call upon the Minister of Justice and the international community to take swift action to rectify this injustice. Muna’s case has been overlooked in parliamentary discussions, despite the involvement of key officials. With reports of torture and threats against her family, it’s evident that this is a politically motivated imprisonment.
Join us in standing up for Muna’s rights. We urge all citizens, journalists, and human rights organizations to advocate for her release and to restore justice. This ongoing oppression must end now.
Let’s raise our voices for Muna Ibrahim Abiikar
